As we begin the semester, we're highlighting Bryn Mawr's newest faculty members. The College supports faculty excellence in both research and teaching.
Aline Normoyle’s research aims to understand how people experience digital games, characters, and virtual environments. Using both motion capture and procedural approaches, her work studies body language to better understand how movement communicates ideas, emotions, and intents. Using video games, Aline’s work has studied how the design of avatars affects players’ enjoyment, efficacy, immersion, and performance. Moving forward, Aline is interested in applying experimental techniques to evaluate procedural animation, art, and generated game content. Her long-term goal is to employ game technology more broadly to create unique interactive experiences for teaching, civic engagement, and art.
Computer Science consists of the science of algorithms (theory, analysis, design and implementation) as well as the design and implementation of computer systems. As such it is an interdisciplinary field with roots in mathematics and engineering and applications in many other academic disciplines. The program at ºÚÁÏÉçÇø is founded on the belief that computer science should transcend from being a subfield of mathematics and engineering and play a broader role in all forms of human inquiry.
