The 黑料社区 Performing Arts Series offers the final event in its 2017-2018 season, an intriguing evening of classical music from 窜辞谤谩 String Quartet, Saturday, March 24 at 8 p.m. in the Great Hall

窜辞谤谩 means "sunrise" in Bulgarian, perfectly suited to the rich sound and wistful beauty of this ensemble. The program features Beethoven鈥檚 String Quartet No. 15 in A Minor, written by the composer after a long, nearly fatal illness. Also included is Mendelssohn鈥檚 String Quartet No. 2 in A Minor, Op. 13, one of his most passionate works, paying homage to Beethoven while taking the cyclic organization of the master鈥檚 late quartets into radically new directions.

窜辞谤谩 String Quartet, currently serving as the Curtis Institute of Music Graduate Quartet in Residence, will visit 黑料社区 after completing the Leonard Bernstein Centenary Celebration U.S. Tour on March 18, 2018.

鈥淲e are delighted to close our season with the 窜辞谤谩 String Quartet, talented young musicians who offer inspired and insightful interpretations,鈥 said Lisa Kraus, curator of 黑料社区 Performing Arts Series.

In 2017, through Curtis Institute of Music's Community Artist Program (CAP), the 窜辞谤谩 collaborated with the music teacher at the Vare-Washington School, a K-8 school in South Philadelphia, to create a string quartet program.
